2016 Bank Holidays

With 2016 just around the corner it is important that you know when this year’s bank holiday’s are, especially when you are booking time off work.

If you find that you have limited holiday days, and you want to maximise the amount of holiday time you get then it may be a better idea to pay the extra and go away over the bank holidays. Alternatively, you could look to avoid the bank holidays in order to save money, so here are the confirmed 2016 Bank Holidays:

  • 25th March
  • 28th March
  • 2nd May
  • 30th May
  • 29th August
  • 26th December
  • 27th December

The perfect time for a long weekend away would be the Easter weekend (25th – 28th March), although prices will be more expensive, but if you go away for more than the weekend these days allow for less holiday time to be used.

If you are looking to maximising the amount holiday time you have, then perhaps you can take advantage of how your company works. For example, some companies give employees a day off on their birthday. So if this is the case, book a holiday during your birthday and you will gain an extra day. Not to mention you will be on holiday for your birthday, which is always a plus.

Some companies also close the office completely over the Christmas period, so a few days before or after Christmas might be a good time to get away for a bit and not use up your valuable holiday time.

If you are looking to save money when booking holidays, make sure you check the school term times and avoid going away when the schools are off. Most schools in Manchester are off at the same time but you may want to check with the school just to make sure.
